There is an awesome giveaway over at Jaybird Quilts from Canton Village Quilt Works! Check out the great fabric bundles they have to give away!

Quilting Videos

Check out these videos over on the Piece N Quilt blog. She is machine quilting in a spiral pattern and it looks so EASY and has gorgeous results! Makes me want a long arm SOOOO FREAKING BAD! Even if I could find someone that had one that would let me try it and quilt for a while. Seriously I would work for them for free!!!

This post brought to you by entirely too much excitement in form of caps and exclamation points.

My to-do list.....

It never ends really but I have actual deadlines I'm dealing with here.....
In order of when they need to be done...
1. finish knitting L's sweater for her pictures on Wednesday. of course there will be pics here.
2. sew a gazillion and 1 sequins onto L's Halloween costume and knit her wig. She's going as Elvis.
3. start on a king size quilt for my parents for Christmas. I don't have a pattern picked out yet but I'll get there. I want something modern but want to use more traditional colors as their bedroom is mostly navy.
4. work up a list of other Christmas gifts that need to be done and put them in order of importance.

That's all I can think of for now but I'm sure more will pop up and I'm sure I won't be able to resist some just for fun quilts in between there. After laundry tomorrow I will finally be able to bind a quilt to be finished! Pics to follow for that too!

To my few readers....

Pssst.....there's an awesome giveaway over here with Freshly Pieced! Check out her stuff! It's adorable!

Also......

I am really wanting this book!

WIP issues.....

I have startitis. I don't want to work on the projects I have going. Well, mainly because I don't necessarily have everything I need to FINISH them.

For example, my Circle Around quilt (from Jaybird Quilts/Quilts and More Summer 2010) is in the final stages of assembling the top. Just need to piece a couple of rows, then sew the rows together. Been working on it lots the last couple of days. But I know I still need to get the batting, backing, and binding fabric so I'm stalling finishing it because I KNOW once I finish the top I will want to finish the whole thing in record time and quilt the crap out of it. So I stall on the top.

Then, remember in the previous post how I got fabric for the binding of a quilt that has been backed and quilted for some time? Well, I need to wash the binding fabric and cut and sew the binding. THEN IT'S DONE! But I feel too sick to go to the laundry room and wash it (to be fair, we don't have laundry in our apartment. I would have to walk outside in 103 degree heat to get to the laundry room which is probably about 115 degrees inside. Not fun when you are sick!!!)

Then, I have a quilt that I am making out of solid colored sheets for our bed that is super easy straight sewing then cutting and super easy straight sewing again. Should be perfect for sick crafting right? I just get bored too easily with it.

Then, I see wonderful projects that I want to start but lose attention span before I even get the fabric gathered. Like these:

This one can be found at Oh, Fransson!

And this one is at Red Pepper Quilts

AND THEN......well I found a free pattern for an Amy Butler bag that is TO DIE FOR!

You can get the info on how to get the pattern over at Sew, Mama, Sew!

And we won't even talk about everything I SHOULD be doing instead, like unpacking and cleaning our apartment, taking the dog for a much needed walk, and playing with L. I can't wait for this darn head cold to GO AWAY!!! Also, apparently being sick means it's okay to entirely overuse the word "THEN" inappropriately. Grammar be damned. Sniffle Sniffle Sneeze.

The circle quilts are some kind of cheater cathedral window that we are going to figure out. LOVE the birdies at the end. And love the color combo of the blue and green.......

Impromptu fabric shopping....

Stopped at Joann's today to pick up some fabric for the binding of this quilt:

Bad picture, and its backed and quilted now.

Picked out this one:

MMM so pretty! Oh what's that you say? This picture is SOOO much better than the last? Well that's because I found an HD OttLite on clearance at Joann's for only $19.97. WOOT ME! You can find one similar here on Amazon.

And THEEEEEEEN.....well I found some really cute fabric. And A thought it was pretty cute too. And I couldn't take my eyes off of it. And it was new. And it ended up in my cart. well you know what happens next. Here is a pretty picture of it with my new light.

Want to see it a little closer?

Little windows with little birdies with little cages.....sigh.....too freaking cute. Now if only I had a pattern picked out for it.......

Quilting Bee Square 1

I received my first package of fabric from my first partner from our Ravelry LSG Quilting Bee. Love her choices in fabric and she chose the Wonky Star pattern (linked to the tutorial she provided so you can try a square too! oh, and the tutorial creator is not my partner, just an awesome quilter!)
Here is a pic of a test square I did from my fabric.

And my finished square for her!

I pushed the limits of wonkiness on hers so here's hoping those seams hold! :o) I love the way they both turned out and hope she loves hers. PS both pics are close up to show detail of center fabric but rest assured both squares have proper points for all star points and measure finished 12.5 inches.

I've got a PACKAGE!

hehe. I placed an Etsy order from Zipit for 4 inch and 8 inch zippers. I am SOOOO incredibly pleased with my order! Here are some eye candy pics of zippers.

Cute packaging, no?

YAY zippers of every color!

Some goodies that came with. A Fortune Teller fish (which told my husband he was a fraud! HA!)

And the cutest rainbow robot zipper pull!

The extras were the icing on the cake. My Mom placed an order with them also and is thrilled. I want to use all of these so I can order more! LOVE LOVE LOVE this Etsy seller!

Guess what?

It's Tuesday again and I missed foto find friday.....I will post some pics later of what I've been up to for another Tuesday....

9.15.2010

Foto find Tuesday?

So I missed Fridays Flickr find this week but today I bring you some pics of fabric I've recently purchased.
First up, my fabric for a quilting bee I'm partaking in on Ravelry. Go LSG!

The solids and the stripes are sheets from Wal-Mart (I'm cheap. sorry) and the spanish tile and Route 66 prints are from Jo-Ann's.

Next up, 2 vintage sheets found at goodwill that I am IN LOVE with.

Coloring is a little off because of my flash but pretty good considering.

Next, a little yardage found at goodwill.

Nautical themed. Pic seems a little blurry to me but I love the colors of this fabric and couldn't pass it up. (Plus around 2 yards for $1.99 uncut? Love it)

And finally, a duvet cover from goodwill for the whopping price of $3.99.

It's hard to tell from this pic but its an all over tie-dye effect. Seems to be a queen size but I have both sides of it since it's essentially a giant pillow case. I am going to do a quilt out of just this fabric. You'll see.

I also picked up some more solid sheets from wal-mart in grey, lime green, turquoise and white to make quilts for our bed. LOTS of sewing to do!

Today in craftiness.....

I'm teaching myself double knitting....pics to come later. And as soon as I can pull myself away from it, I plan on more unpacking so I can get to my sewing table and do some quilting damn it! I'm going thru withdrawals! And after all the quilting porn I've been looking at I really need to get moving on my WIPs so I can get more fabric! There's a cute little vintage thrift store near my new apartment I need to check out for fabric! Squee!

9.05.2010

DONE.....finally......and oww.......

We are finally done moving out of the house. There is a metric crapton of stuff in storage to go thru over the next few weeks but everything is out of the house! Now to tackle the stacks of totes that are as tall as me in the apartment so we can get around in here. Then, pics of my new sewing corner, and one day pics of my craft closet once it is more organized. For now, lots of rest as I can't move a muscle. Every inch of me hurts, especially my back. And if A wasn't hurting so bad, he would be jumping up and down naked he's that excited about being done with the move!

9.03.2010

It's FLICKR FIND FRIDAY!!!!!!! Today I bring you a few....because I am very inspired apparently. Or I am avoiding cleaning, whatever!
The first one has started my love for polka dots. From Flickr user Red Pepper Quilts. I'm starting a collection ASAP!

2nd is a stack of fabrics I would just like to add to my stash just as it is. Perfect. From Flickr User Jenib320.

I'll add more later after the move.....

9.02.2010

Coming tomorrow.....

I'm starting a new weekly post. Mainly to remind myself to keep up with this blog. Anyways, every Friday will be Flickr Find Friday. There is SO much inspiration to be found on Flickr, so may talented amateur photographers, so many colors. So each week I will post a pic of something that has inspired me.

In other news, my back is out, the house isn't cleaned or packed fully yet, and the previous landlord will be there tomorrow. Can I sleep thru tomorrow? Please?

9.01.2010

MIA.......again......

Life got in the way of my blog. Big surprise there. Not sure why I even started one but maybe I can try once again to keep up with it.

Let's see. What's new.

L turned 2 in May and is too smart for her own good. She's been potty trained for 2 months already, knows how to count to 30, can identify half the alphabet, knows 7 or 8 presidents, knows all of her colors, etc. I've run out of things to teach her and we are considering 2 days a week in preschool to give her the interaction with other kids her age.

We are just finishing up moving into a 1 bedroom tiny apartment (long story, way to long for the blog) and are really enjoying it. We had to downsize big time (and still could get rid of more) but its nice being close, having all of L's toys in her room and living in Mesa rather than B.F.E. aka Queen Creek.

A is just about finished with his first semester of college to become a massage therapist. Boy, am I loving the benefits of that! I'm so proud of him for taking the leap and going back to school, even if this isn't what he will do the rest of his life. He's amazing.

I will start school in February at the community college to start some classes towards my Associates of Science. After that, right now my goal is nursing and then to become a nurse midwife. I adored the midwife program I had when I was pregnant with L and would love to be a part of something like that.

In crafty news, quilting has taken over. I knit here and there but have been sewing more than anything. I enjoy the instant gratification of quilting. I feel like I accomplish way more in a shorter amount of time. And this is turning into making things other than quilts. Up next, some dresses for L, purses, knitting needle rolls, etc. Love it. I received a huge stash of scrap fabric from a friend of the family after she passed away and I love matching things up and creating something awesome. I need to post lots of pics of all kinds of things and I will once we are unpacked. For now I leave you with a pic of my 2 favorite projects. One finished (the quilt) and the other a long way to go! (L) She adores her Wubbzy blankie and it goes everywhere with us.
